Still Routing For Emmitt By Darren Carter ARJ Sports Executive Editor August 3, 2003 I don't care that Emmitt Smith is no longer playing for my favorite team the Dallas Cowboys. He still is my favorite football player. Over the years, not only has Emmitt demonstrated his extraordinary skill on the football field, he exhibited the essence of class off the field. This was the reason why liked Emmitt Smith in the first place. Emmitt, while leading the Dallas Cowboys to 3 Super Bowls Championships in the 1990's, never indulged in the lifestyle that caught up a lot of his Cowboys teammates, notably Michael Irvin and Leon Lett. Emmitt performed at a superstar level, while maintaining a low key ego. The day I heard that the Cowboys we're going to release Emmitt, I was in shock. I could believe that it was true, because Dallas didn't have a running back that was as good as "E", so the move didn't make any sense to me. I guess the Cowboys we're looking to rebuild officially, ending the era of the Big Three, Emmitt, Irvin, and Troy Aikman.
Emmitt is schedule to face the Cowboys on October 5th in Texas Stadium. It will be hard for me to chose who to route for, I guess if Emmitt rushes for about 200 yards and the Cowboys win the game I will be happy.
