The Atlanta Falcons are a shell of the team they we're last year. They actually won a playoff game. Their merchandise was as hot as any in football, they we're selling out games, and talk around the league was they we're heading in the right direction as a franchise. They acquired Peerless Price from Buffalo to add a quality wide out for Michael Vick to throw to. Everything was in place for them to be one of the top teams this year.
Low and behold, Vick breaks his leg in a meaningless preseason game. Season up in smoke. But wait a minute, the team say's we're more than a one man show, we can win ball games with out Vick, we won ball games with Doug Johnson last year, the defense last year was pretty solid, we will be alright. Of course that was the right thing to say, but that's no where near the truth. The Falcons go as Mike Vick goes, no Vick, Falcon's suck that simple.
They beat the Cowboys the first game of the season, and have done nothing since. All their playoff hopes are up in smoke at this point. Vick's rehab has gone along, slower than expected, and the defense hasn't played no where near as good as last year. Word has it Dan Reaves job may be in jeopardy. That's really unfair, when your franchise player goes down, who should expect you to be any good as team, especially since Vick was about 75% of your squad.

| Mike slow ya roll, you have nothing gain by returning too soon. | |
Well at this point, to maintain some respectability, they say Vick will probably see some action this week. By saying this you gain more interest in the team, sell more tickets to the game, win some meaningless ball games, and still not make the playoffs, that's the best case senario. Flip it, worse case senario, Vick comes back, he's not 100%, plays in games that don't meaning a hill of beans, get's hurt worse, jeopardizing his career, and you still don't make the playoffs.
I say the risk outweighs the reward. The type quarterback Mike Vick is, in order for him to be effective, he has to be 100%, so he can do the things, he can do that make him the most exciting player in football. The coaching staff or who ever is trying to rush him back should rethink this thing, and think about long term, as oppose to sell tickets, winning meaningless ball games, or saving jobs.
Just regroup, go on take your early first round pick, get a quality ball player to go with Vick, try to get Terrell Owens in free acency, and start over fresh next year. That's just my opinion.
